The syndrome of the irritable colon, designated again by the notion of intestinal functional unrests (TFI), don't save the young children. No panic! In general these unrests disappear or are attenuated while growing, but for as much it is indispensable to relieve the child's pain.

Abdominal pains, chronic diarrheas sometimes alternating with episodes of constipation, distending and gases. the intestinal functional unrests (TFI) touch the children of one frequently to four years. Generally, they decrease or disappear spontaneously thereafter. In France, one estimates that they reach about 15% of the population. At the child, these intestinal functional unrests represent one of the most frequent motives of consultation more or less for diarrhea chronic. More often named syndrome of the irritable colon, this affection is transient and don't affect on no account his growth.

Beware of the food!

Trouble of the motivity of the intestine, excessive fragility, "clumsy" use of the antibiotics, anxious domestic behavior, stress.de numerous factors are incriminated in the apparition of the intestinal functional unrests of the young child. But three times out of four, mistakes of food régime are some to the origin. The most often, it is about a food too rich in proteins (meats, let's pitch, eggs). Before the food diversification, the maternal nursing or the recourse to a milk maternisé permits to cover baby's needs in proteins while avoiding the excesses. On the other hand, the introduction of meat and dairy products (yogurts, white cheeses, cheeses.) coincides often with contributions protéiques four to five times superior to the child's needs.

Some dietary advice imposes themselves

In general, the simple correction of these mistakes brings the improvement of the symptoms. Since the age of 5 months until about two years, the contributions counseled in proteins are from 10 to 11 grams per day. and not more! Then, and until 10 years, these contributions are proportional to the child's weight at the rate of 0,9 gram of proteins by kilogram of weight of the child and per day. Thus, a child of three years weighing 15 kilograms should eat him 13,5 g of proteins per day. Is better also in period of crisis, to avoid the garishness, citrus fruits, ices, the frozen drinks,. Finally, the food of the young child must be also rééquilibrée between the different nutriments:  glucides (slow and fast sugars), lipids (plant and animal greases), proteins (plant and animal proteins) and fibers (fruits, vegetables.).

To consult to reassure the parents. and to listen to the child

Besides these indispensable adjustments, the medical consultation also permits to reassure the parents and to exclude all other affection to the level of the intestine:  closure, hernia, malformation. It is also important to make the child that his pains are not underestimated understand and that one sets of it in motion all necessary means to relieve it. Today, the treatment remained symptomatic. So the prescription of an anti-spasmodic, under a shape galénique adapted to the use pediatrique(sachet or drinkable suspension), will permit to fight against the contractions of the digestive tube and will relieve the child.

The child's intestinal functional unrests must not be disregarded. The stomach aches, at quite the small as at the adults, are truly handicapping. Learn to listen to, their complaints, their tears and to pacify them.
