Since 2000, the tobacco addiction and the consumption of alcohol at the young are in receding. The 17-25 years would be thus wiser than their eldests. But attention however, the recourse to the illicit drugs increases. Very clean decrease of the tobacco addiction and considerable reduction of the consumption of alcohol, between 2000 and 2005. Such are the results unveiled by the epidemiological Bulletin of the sanitary eve institute (InVS). The studies also show that the young consume more illicit drugs: poppers, hallucinogenic mushrooms, ecstasy... Tobacco and alcohol less valued by the young Between 2000 and 2005, the 17-25 years sulked tobacco and the alcohol. The French observatory of the drugs and addictions (OFDT) remark that during this period, the young have less consumed of tobacco and alcohol: The young of 17 years are 33% to smoke daily in 2005, against 41% in 2000. The decrease also observes itself at the young adults (18-25 years): whereas 40% among them smoked in 2000, they are only 36% in 2005. This reduction confirms "the decrease of the tobacco addiction, constant since the end of the years 1990" observed by the authors of the survey. This tendency should continue extensively, notably thanks to the interdiction to smoke in the public places since January 1st, 2008. Side drink, the reductions are to vary. A young of 17 years on ten confides to drink the alcohol regularly, either at least ten times per month. These data show a stability in the use of alcohol. On the other hand, the rates of drunkenness are distinctly on the increase between 2003 and 2005, with a passage of 20 to 26% of youngsters having the repeated drunkenness. The young adults appear wiser, since that the regular consumption of alcohol passed from 17,6% to 8,9% at the 18-25 years for the period 2000 to 2005. Either a division by two the number of regular consumers. The illicit drugs on the increase The studies reveal that the number of smokers of cannabis remained steady at the 17 years. In 2000 and 2005, on average a young on ten smokes regularly. On the other hand, he/it appears "that to 17 years, the daily consumption of cannabis is a lot more widespread than the one of alcohol (5,2% vs 1,2%)." Concerning the 18-25 years, a light receding of the consumption of cannabis has been observed. The scientists explain this decrease in part by "a progressive abandonment of the consumption by some teenagers become adult." If the use of cannabis doesn't progress, the other illicit drugs are on the increase. The most experienced are the poppers, the hallucinogenic mushrooms, the products to inhale and the ecstasy, then the cocaine and the amphetamines. To 17 years, 12,3% among them already consumed once at least such an illicit product. The consumption of cocaine and inhaling products is the one that knows the strongest progression. More of two young of 17 years on hundred consumed already once of the cocaine at least. The observed rates are very near at the young adults. Permanence of the "binge drinking" These numbers reveal a change of the alcoholic practices. The young drink less often but of way more excessive, more intoxicating. It is the phenomenon of the "Binge drinking." While waiting for a next campaign of prevention on the topic, some schools react. So March 19, the Conference of the big schools and the one of the directors of the schools of engineers signed with the delegates of the national offices of the pupils engineers and the schools of trade, a charter to fight against the behaviors to risk and addictions. The objective is to distribute via this charter of the good practices aiming to limit the excesses of the studying evenings where too often, the alcohol sinks to stream. The minister of the health Roselyne Bachelot announced Thursday that she considered forbidding the fall blows it of alcoholic drinks to all miners in the food trades. If the results of these studies are encouraging in term of global consumption of tobacco and alcohol, they don't stay some less troubling concerning a certain "slip" toward drugs more strong and illicit. 2009-02-03
