Many people both men and women feel shy or embarrassed to ask about putting on a condom. They will use it incorrectly but never talk about it to friends.

Most of the people make mistakes while putting on the condom. If used correctly, condoms are the best way to prevent pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Important Points While Using Condoms

  •  Always check the expiry date of the condom. Never use condoms of expiry dates.
  •  Open the condom pack with care. Make sure you do not open it with your teeth or put a nail on it as it will damage the condom.
  •  Make sure you do not enter the penis in the vagina before putting on a condom.
  •  See as to which way the condom rolls and make sure that you are wearing it correctly.
  •  The condom should unroll smoothly and easily from the rim to the outside.
  •  Always use the condom when the penis is erect. Once the condom is worn, it must not be moved much, but used directly for penetrative sexual intercourse.
  •  While using a latex condom never use oil based lubrication as it weakens the latex. Always use water based lubrication with latex condoms.
  •  After the ejaculation remove the penis immediately and the condom carefully while the penis is still erect.
  •  Care must be taken while removing the condom. See to it that no semen is spilled while removing the condom. Otherwise, the semen may fall on the vagina, which could lead to a pregnancy.
  •  Do not reuse a condom. A used condom must be disposed in the waste paper basket. A condom once used must never be reused, even after washing it.

Condoms not only prevent pregnancies but also protect from a number of sexually transmitted disease (STD) like HIV/AIDS. So not talking about condom use could create problems. You should be frank with your partner to talk about condoms. None of you would like either of the partners to be infected with the disease. After all it is a matter of life.

Even parents too should open up and talk to their children about sex, use of condoms and sexually transmitted diseases. There are a number of teenagers who involve in unsafe sex. If they are made aware of the causes of the HIV/AIDS and STD and how the use of condoms can protect from getting the infection then the number of HIV victims will definitely fall down.
