Tuesday September 02, 2008 A survey of the National institute of Vigil Sanitaire (INVS) reveals that the men non graduates have more risk than those having made some studies to die notably of cancer of the esophagus, of the ways superior aérodigestives and the lung. These inequalities became more pronounced since the years 1960.

One already knew that the workers of aged of 30 to 65 years had more risks to die that people practising a profession liberal or the settings. The survey of the INVS learns us that the risk of mortality by cancer at the men increases especially as the level of study is weak. The reasons that explain this surmortalite?
The cancers of the ways superior aérodigestives, of the esophagus and the lung are bound to the consumption of tobacco and alcohol. This one is more frequent in the surroundings where the level of survey is weaker. But the marked social inequalities observed for the cancers of the lung and ways superior aérodigestives are only explained partially by this consumption.
Ohter advanced reason:  since 1968, there were an improvement of the treatments and an increase of the tracking practices, in particular for the cancers. The access to the treatment or to the tracking being bound to the social situation, he also have participated to the increase of the mortality inequalities.
At the women, the social inequalities seem less marked in term of mortality by cancer. These are observed for the cancers of the uterus, the stomach and the lung.

According to the authors, the different policies of health must fully become aware of these social inequalities and integrate them to struggle against cancer.
