A French physician, the Dr Olivier Ameisen, reveals in his work " The last glass" that he succeeded in healing his alcoholism while prescribing themselves an old medicine, the baclofène, used for muscular spasms. Himself and other physicians ask that some clinical tests are led.

This physician cardiologist in New-York, alcoholic for years, had never succeeded in itself débarasser of his addiction to the alcohol, in spite of several cures of detoxification. He should even have stopped his activity. While thumbing the scientific publications, he discovers that a medicine, the baclofène, used for muscular spasms, has some effects on the dependent rats to the cocaine and to the alcohol, these effects being bound to the doses.

He decides to test this medicine on him. One month after having reached the equivalent of the efficient dose on the rat, he explains that he became indifferent to the alcohol. He publishes his experience then in a big scientific magazine so that some clinical tests are achieved.

According to the Dr Ameisen, that takes the baclofène since 5 years, 200 people in the world already took this medicine with success. For the meantime, no survey is foreseen and the physicians face themselves on this question.

2 millions of people in France have serious problems with the alcohol. There is no doubt that they wait with impatience that of the studies are led...
