If you want to make good impression at the time of a first meeting, it is necessary to warm your interlocutor's hand! It is the surprising enough report of American researchers, published in the very serious magazine Science. In fact, the scientists delivered themselves to a funny experience: they recruited 41 students of the university of Yale. While taking them on the place of the experience, they managed to make hold them a cup of coffee, very hot or on the contrary frozen. Then, they submitted them to a set of psychological tests, notably to describe the personality of a fictional character. Result: those that had held the hot cup tended to judge the other spontaneously as more cordial, more generous and more sociable. In another similar survey on 53 students, they could note that the people who had been in contact with the heat tended to be spontaneously more generous, to make some gifts to the other. For the researchers, these works are far from being anecdotal: they show how the cognitive processes are bound in a strong manner to the physical sensations. They consider new works besides to value the neurological connections in reason.
In any case, if you want to make good impression at the time of an interview, two solutions,:Â either you keep a chaufferette close at hand, to be sure to have a cordial handshake, either you offer a very hot coffee to your interlocutor with no place to put the cup... non guaranteed Effect. Â
