Researchers have found that those who ate fish had a significantly lower risk of developing dementia.

A fishy story for you if you've got a minute.

About ten years ago, French researchers went into the homes of healthy people in South West France aged in their late sixties and over.

They asked all sorts of things including what they ate.

Over a seven year follow up, those who ate fish had a significantly lower risk of developing dementia. The more fish, the lower the chances, starting at one marine meal per week.

Meat eating on the other hand - just to cheer you up - didn't increase the risk.

The thing about the fish eaters though was that they tended to be better educated and there are a few studies now which show that the further you've gone in your education, the later in life you develop thinking problems. Probably a result of having more useable grey matter in your tank.

Even so the researchers believe that fish and their oils have an effect on the brain all of their own but that's still to be proven.

The key to this of course is remembering what you need to eat so you can remember everything else.
